New Jobs in Coventry

Following the recent Announcement by Peugeot that it intends to stop production in Coventry, the city has faced a future without the motor industry. The closure of the Ryton factory and the previous Jaguar closure at Browns lane have meant that thousands of jobs have and will be lost.

However, good news is on the horizon for the sites that will be left empty by the closures. New plans are being announced that may bring thousands of new jobs back to Coventry. The Browns Lane site previously occupied by Jaguar has now been purchased by a development company that specialises in creating mass production buildings. It is hoped that this will lead to an influx of new companies, creating many new jobs.

In addition to this the Whitley site has been given the go ahead to build a new science and business park, estimated to cost £160 million. The developers were interested in the new projects due to Coventry’s location and skilled work force. Both of the new business areas should create an estimated 2-3000 jobs, which is welcome news for the city.
